Sophie Scholl – The Final Days
Sophie Scholl – Die letzten Tage · dir. Marc Rothemund
Germany 2005, 117’
Trailer
Sophie Scholl — The Final Days is a moving portrayal of one of few female heroes in German history. The film shows the last six days of Sophie Scholl's life (17–22 February 1943) seen with her own eyes — the eyes of a brave and energetic young woman who was ready to sacrifice her life for the ideals of the White Rose. Thanks to resistance and protests against the Nazi regime, this organization became a synonym of civil courage and peaceful fight against oppression and rule of violence. The story was based on facts as much as possible (for example, original protocols of interrogation were used). Yung director Marc Rothemund, owing to his fresh and unbiased view of history, made the mythical and symbolic character of Sophie Scholl alive.
