Katyń
Katyń · dir. Andrzej Wajda
Poland 2007, 118’
Trailer
The film follows the story of four Polish families whose lives are torn apart when, at the outset of WWII, a great number of Polish soldiers (who are also fathers, husbands, sons and brothers) fall into the hands of Soviet troops and later brutally become victims of Stalinism, murdered and buried in Katyń's woods in 1940. Andrzej Wajda presents a multi-faceted scenario of great sorrow, but never mawkish. This is the work of an old master, a complex canvass directed with a sure hand, a movie which describes and explains the tragedy of Katyń.
